DESCRIPTION:The UBCO Peer Support Network (PSN) was founded in 2014 and is a space on campus where students can come and speak with a peer about a challenge\, struggle\, and/or personal hardship they may be facing. As a paraprofessional service\, the PSN does not diagnose or treat mental illness and is not a substitute for services provided by health professionals (e.g.\, counsellors\, psychologists\, social workers\, physicians). Rather than giving advice\, volunteers will be there to provide welcoming\, confidential\, and empathetic peer-based support using active listening and resource referral. Alongside the Women’s Resource Center and the Pride Resource Center\, the Network will strive to ensure that no student feels alone no matter what concern they are struggling with and will aim to increase awareness of mental health and wellness within the campus community. \nLocation: The UNC Resource Center (UNC 132)

SUMMARY:Bangla Language Class
DESCRIPTION:ABS is an association for Bangladeshi students at UBCO. Our mother tongue is Bengali or Bangla. We are the nation who sacrificed their lives to fight for our language on 21 February 1952 which later was declared as the International Mother Language Day. We plan to take an initiative where we will sit weekly on Saturdays and nurture our Bangla language skills and culture. We would like this event to be open to all who are interested to learn our sweet mother tongue Bangla. We would also like to extend this program for the Bangladeshi community in the Okanagan region. If anyone wants to learn the Bengali language\, they can join the classes. It will be open for the kids of our future generation as well. DESCRIPTION:The UBCO Pride Resource Centre (PRC) was founded in 2003 and is a space on campus where LGBT and Ally students can come and talk about issues and challenges they face on and off campus. The PRC is a paraprofessional service which means that it does not provide actual medical (mental or physical) advice but can refer students to professional healthcare services on or off-campus. Volunteers for the PRC provide a safe\, confidential space for LGBT and Ally students through events and office hours where students can come\, have fun\, and discuss LGBT issues. \nLocation: The UNC Resource Centre (UNC 132)

DESCRIPTION:The UBCO Peer Support Network (PSN) was founded in 2014 and is a space on campus where students can come and speak with a peer about a challenge\, struggle\, and/or personal hardship they may be facing. As a paraprofessional service\, the PSN does not diagnose or treat mental illness and is not a substitute for services provided by health professionals (e.g.\, counsellors\, psychologists\, social workers\, physicians). Rather than giving advice\, volunteers will be there to provide welcoming\, confidential\, and empathetic peer-based support using active listening and resource referral. Alongside the Women’s Resource Center and the Pride Resource Center\, the Network will strive to ensure that no student feels alone no matter what concern they are struggling with and will aim to increase awareness of mental health and wellness within the campus community. \nLocation: The UNC Resource Center (UNC 132)
