Director-at-Large Positions & Faculty Representative Positions
Director-at-Large – Four (4) Positions
As a part of the Board of Directors, a Director-at-Large is responsible for:
- the management, administration, and control of the property, revenue, businesses, and affairs of the SUO
- approving the Annual Action Plan and the Annual Operating Budget
- adhering to the SUO Mission Statement
- changing, amending, repealing, and adopting Regulations of the SUO
- providing the Board of Directors with student perspective, including the perspectives of those part of marginalized groups
- serving on at least one committee of the Board
- attending and assisting with SUO events and engagement activities
Undergraduate Faculty Representatives – Seven (7) Positions
As a part of the Board of Directors, a Faculty Representative is responsible for:
- the management, administration, and control of the property, revenue, businesses, and affairs of the SUO
- approving the Annual Action Plan and the Annual Operating Budget
- adhering to the SUO Mission Statement
- changing, amending, repealing, and adopting Regulations of the SUO
- providing the Board with the perspective of students in the faculty from which they are elected
- liaising with students within their respective faculties and university officials about student needs and interests
- serving on at least one committee of the Board
- attending and assisting with SUO events and engagement activities
- liaising with students within their faculty from graduate levels as well as undergraduate levels, to hear their different student needs
- the Faculty Representative Positions are as follows:
- Faculty of Applied Sciences Representative
- Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Representative
- Faculty of Sciences Representative
- Faculty of Management Representative
- Faculty of Health and Social Development Representative
- Faculty of Education Representative
- Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies Representative
College of Graduate Studies Faculty Representative – One (1) Position
As a part of the Board of Directors, the College of Graduate Studies Faculty Representative is responsible for:
- the management, administration, and control of the property, revenue, businesses, and affairs of the SUO
- approving the Annual Action Plan and the Annual Operating Budget
Adhere to the SUO Mission Statement
- changing, amending, repealing, and adopting Regulations of the SUO
Providing the Board with the perspective of graduate students in all faculties
- liaising with graduate students across campus from all disciplines and university officials about student needs and interests
- chairing the Graduate Student Committee and interviewing Students-at-Large to sit on the committee
- attending and assisting with SUO events and engagement activities
