Referendum Question for By-election 2025/2026 Ballot

In the SUO 2025/2026 General Election, SUO Members will be asked to vote on the referendum question. The following question was brought forward to the Students’ Union, reviewed by the Chief Returning Officer, and approved by the SUO Board of Directors.

• In the SUO 2025/2026 fall by-election, UBC Okanagan students were asked to vote on the referendum question about supporting about having Graduate Students Association (GSA) establish as its own student society fee, and separate from the Students’ Union Okanagan.
  (Yes: 434 / No: 23 / Total: 457 PASSED)
• In the SUO 2024/2025 general election, UBC Okanagan students were asked to vote on the referendum question about supporting a new capital project for a Student Union building.
  (Yes: 1,045 / No: 1,208 / Abstained: 172 / Total: 2,425 FAILED)
• In the SUO 2023/2024 by-election, UBC Okanagan students were asked to vote on the referendum question about supporting about establishing a student recreation facility fee.
  (Yes: 632 / No: 258 / Total: 890 PASSED)
• In the SUO 2021/2022 general election, UBC Okanagan students were asked to vote on the referendum question about proceeding with a capital project.
  (Yes: 565 / No: 47 / Total: 612 PASSED)
