2015-2016 By-election Referendum Question

In the SUO 2015/2016 by-election, held in November 2015, UBC Okanagan students were asked to vote on the referendum question. The following question was brought forward to the Students’ Union by students with a signed petition of 10% of the student body, reviewed by the Chief Returning Officer, and approved by the Board of Directors.

The question reads as follows:

Are you in favor of increasing the mandatory U-PASS fee (currently $60 per student per term, including a 10% subsidy from the University of British Columbia) to $70 per student per term, including a subsidy from the University of British Columbia?

Note: Should the No side prevail in the referendum, the City of Kelowna may exercise its right under Article 13.3 of the U-PASS agreement to terminate the U-PASS. Such termination, should it take place, shall be effective as of September 2016.
